Ram Gopal Varma's Controversial film, Lakshmi's NTR despite the hurdles posed by the Ruling Telugu Desam Government in Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a Superhit in the USA markets. The movie has grossed $243,720 in the first weekend of its release and look strong for big.
This is a massive amount given that the film is made with a shoestring budget. Also, it is the highest USA Collection in Ram Gopal Varma's career. The movie largely got disappointing reviews but the audience wanted to watch the film to know the facts that happened back then.
Interestingly, Nandamuri Balakrishna's NTR Mahanayakudu has just managed $218K in its full run. Lakshmi's NTR film budget is not even 20% of NTR Mahanayakudu Budget. Lakshmi's NTR did not release in Andhra Pradesh due to the stay of the local high court. The makers have approached the Supreme Court but to of no use.
