Amaravathi sources stated that the Election Commission on Wednesday has decided to conduct re-polling in five polling booths in Andhra Pradesh on May 6. Meanwhile in a statement released on Wednesday, the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gopal Krishna Dwivedi said that the re-polling will be held in the booths located in Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts.

Furthermore Gopal Krishna Dwivedi had earlier sent proposals to the Election Commission seeking re-poll in five polling stations. Further as per the reports it was noted that many voters could not exercise their voting right mainly because of technical glitches in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM). Apparently the other reason was due to the violence that took place on the election day in Inumetla, Gurzala constituencies in Guntur district allegedly perpetuated by the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

Moreover the Nellore district election authorities recommended repolling in Kovur and Sullurpet constituencies. Hence there were technical problems in Kovur and Sullurpet constituencies, especially with the EVMs allocated for Lok Sabha seats which had malfunctioned. In Guntur district: Narsaraopeta Constituency Booth No 94,  Guntur West Constituency Booth No 244. At Nellore district Kovvru Constituency Booth No 41 and Sullurupeta Constituency Booth No 97. In Prakasm district at Yerragondapalem Booth No 197.
