Amaravathi sources stated that the employees’ resentment with the TDP government is clear. As postal ballots and service votes are counted initially before the EVMs are opened, TDP received a rude shock as staff and officials involved in election duty overwhelmingly voted in favor of YSRCP. Furthermore it appears that TDP has been rejected by employees due to its anti-workers’ policies that put their lives and financial well-being in jeopardy. Apparently when employees were asked to shift from hyderabad to new capital Amaravathi, several complaints arose from employees that their welfare was granted for granted.

Further they alleged that the government had taken no efforts to redress their grievances vis-à-vis their complaints about basic amenities in the new capital. Perhaps in fact, N Chandrababu Naidu’ defeat in the hands of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in 2004 is also significantly attributed to the former’s anti-workers’ policies.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh in this election witnessed a steep rise in the number of postal and service votes. Moreover the total number of service votes in 25 Lok Sabha constituencies is 2, 86,62,175, while the Assembly segments has 29,53,225 service votes.
