In wake of reports doing rounds that former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu's security cover has been downgraded, Andhra Pradesh DGP Gautam Sawang rejected such reports as false and clarified that, in fact, he was offered more than what the guidelines had actually permitted for him.
Sawang was indicating that Chandrababu Naidu is getting security more than what an Opposition Leader is supposed to get but TDP leaders are expecting security on par with what Chandrababu Naidu used to get while he is the Chief Minister which is against the Rule Box.
t is known to our readers that Chandrababu Naidu was given Z+ category security (with 24-hour protection by 23 armed security men and escort vehicles) after he was attacked by Maoists at Alipiri in Tirupati in 2003. TDP suffered its worst defeat in the recent elections after confining to just 23 MLA and 3 MP seats.
