The party that made waves in 2008 faded away in just three years. Millions of fans welcomed Chiru’s PRP which dealt a blow to TDP in 2009 and political observers say that it may have given the same knock to Congress in 2014 had Chiru not taken a decision for merger!
In December 2009 when Chidambaram initiated the formation of Telangana state, it is Megastar Chiranjeevi who was against the move and all of his PRP MLAs resigned from their posts and following which other parties MLAs have joined and finally Congress had to withdraw from its December 9th statement.
Political observers have been saying that they feel Chiru merging his party into Congress in the name of social justice being possible through a National Party was a big blunder. They say that had Chiru not merged his party, Congress would not have dared to split the state since Jagan was anyway expected to will shake 'hand' one day or the other!
