Reportedly of the toll plazas in Tamilnadu that belong to the National Highways Authority of india, fees in 22 toll plazas were increased in April. Meanwhile this time, the fee has been increased in 15 toll plazas anywhere between Rs 4 and Rs 15 for various categories of vehicles.

Furthermore for a distance of up to 52 kilometres, light motor vehicles including cars would now have to pay Rs 60 for a single trip and this fee was at Rs 55 earlier. Perhaps the fee for light commercial vehicles, including minivans, has been increased from Rs 90 to Rs 95 per trip. Trucks and buses will now have to pay Rs 195 for a single trip while multi-axle vehicles have to pay Rs 215 per trip as against the older tariff of Rs 205.



Earlier in April, rates in the 22 toll plazas on the Chennai-Bengaluru and other prominent sectors were increased between Rs 5 and Rs 15 according to the category of the vehicle. Moreover the toll prices could have a cascading effect on the prices of essential commodities since a lot of the goods are transported between the place of production to the retailers through these roads.
