There has been no tight fight towards Jagan at least in Rayalaseema compared to Coastal Andhra and for the first time ever TDP is gaining back its once stronghold, slowly but surely according to Rayalaseema political observers. The two important cities of Cuddapah and Kurnool never came under total grip of TDP even during NTR wave while Ananthapur remains its stronghold while Congress & TDP always fought and won equal number of seats. But with Naidu losing grip over the party's affairs in between, Jagan effectively filled the political vacuum in this district which was highlighted by YSRCP's stunning victory in Tirupathi segment. However, the situation seems to be changing now. The slow grouping together of Balija votes, lack of village cadre for Jagan's party, TDP cadre's support during Panchayat polls all have led to a situation where minus Congress TDP has again emerged as a strong bet to Jagan here and this was evident in the lukewarm response to his Odarpu yathra recently.
