Henceforth Social media will be categorized under Electronic media for assessment of content by the Election Commission under the political propagada and paid news vigilance.
ECI Director General Akshay Rout and Chief Electoral Officer of AP, Bhanwar Lal said today the Paid news regulations will be implemented in the AP general elections for the first time .' In the last general elections from Bihar in 2010 nearly 1000 cases of paid news had been registered ' said Akshay Rout .
Now the political campaign on Facebook, Twitter,YouTube ,Wikipedia and also Apps - will all come under scrutiny of the MCMC's set up by the Election commission at all State and district head quarters . ' All legal provisions of the electronic media on paid news and political advertisements will apply to campaign on Social media as well' .The new restrictions on social media campaign will put both the TDP and the YSRC into trouble as both have launched several web blogs , web papers and also e-papers .
