In Sirkakulam politics, two major communities (Velama and Kalinga) have played dominant role. They make lot of impact in all Segments in the district. There are many leaders in Kalinga Community joined in YSRCP soon after its inception. Hanumanthu Appayya Dora and Kaniti Viswanatham have worked for the party since last 3 years. Appayya Dora seeks Tekkali Segment where as Kanithi is interested on Srikakulam MP.
Former Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao joining creates troubles to them. Kanithi Viswanathm is well-known with his doctor profession in the district. His friendship with late YSR makes him to join in YSRCP. Kanithi developed second layer party structure in all Segments under the Srikakulam. Kanithi is reacted soon after Dharmana joined in YSRCP. Kanithi and his followers resigned immediately. Kanithi was convened meeting with all Kalinga leaders and sarpanches to discuss future course of action.
Appayya Dora also joined along with him against Dharmana Prasada Rao. Appayya Dora deeply hurt that YSRCP leaders can’t make any attempts to stop him even after Appayya decided to leave the party. Dharmana gave importance to his community leaving Kalinga during last 10 years. Kalinga community leaders vowed and worked for the defeat of Dharmana. They decided to give free campaign against Dharmana and his corruption activities. YSRCP leaders internally discussed that Srikakulam is uphill task for YSRCP after Dharmana joining.
