It looked more or less confirmed that the recent CWC meeting would decide upon the long pending and disturbing Telangana issue. But to everyone’s surprise, the topic was not even brought to the table and UPA is busy scratching their heads trying to deal with other important issues. But here is another side to it.
Sources say the topic was not discussed deliberately because Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal had already given the analysis of the situation. It is heard that he briefed Sonia on how giving Telangana is not going to make an inch of difference. His prediction is that Congress will be wiped out in AP in the coming elections.
So, the focus should be more on retaining power at the center and what UPA needs is MP support. Irrespective of Telangana formation, once the 2014 elections are done, the TRS has no choice but to offer their support to UPA for better perks. And when that is expected to happen why to invite extra headache by splitting the state? This view seems to have opened Sonia’s eyes.
