The Temple Of Lord Anjaneya Swami is a very famous temple here. People believe that the idol of the God is a self manifested one (Swayam Bhu) and that the formation of the hillock is due to the falling off a portion of a Hill which Lord Hanuman was carrying when he couldn't find the Herb Sanjeevani to cure the injuries of the Lakshmana (Brother of Lord Rama) and his escort in the war with Ravana.
A temple has been constructed by a cowherd around 500 - 300 years ago in this place for Lord Hanuman and the present day temple has been built 160 years ago by Ponuganti Krishna Rao Deshmukh of Kodimyal region.
But a rock-cut inscription (Silasasana) on the external wall of the main temple shows that Sri Singam Sanjeevudu and Ashamma parents of Singam Balaiah, from Kodimyal Village built the temple.
