Devineni Uma and Samineni Udayabhanu have to face litmus political test in the form of Chairman of Jaggaiahpet Municipal Corporation. YSRCP has won majority wards (16) out of total 27 wards in the Municipality where as TDP in second with 10 Wards and one goes to Independent. 14 wards are enough for any party to bag its Chairmanship. YSRCP should win Chairman of this Municipality without any much effort.
Devineni has started plan to bag Jaggaiahpet Municipality. But TDP won Jaggaiahpet Assembly Segment over YSRCP nominee Samineni Udayabhanu. Along with 10 Councilors TDP will get ex-officio votes from its MLA (Jaggaiahpet), MP (Vijayawada) Rajyasabha (MP). Its strength will go up to 13. As per the buzz, that TDP leadership is trying to get support of the Independent and two other YSRCP members.
Samineni was lost his election to TDP nominee Sriram Tatayya in recent general elections. To win Jaggaiahpet is more important to Samineni Udayabhanu for his political existence. YSRCP leadership also has strong opinion to win this Municipality. If YSRCP fails to bag this Municipality, Samineni would have to face strong dissidence from all corners. Reportedly, YSRCP took away families of it’s councilors to Bangalore and Ooty to avoid TDP “Akarsh”.
