Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao is literally unstoppable from the day he took oath. He even bagged all the Zilla Parishads in Telangana by hook or crook despite not having majority. However KCR's juggernaut is stopped at Khammam. The MPP elections in the district had given dismal results for Telangana Rashtra Samiti. The party did not even manage to win one MPP seat.
Ironically, YSR Congress which do not have presence in Telangana managed two MPP seats. TDP won the majority of 18 seats out of the total 39 MPP seats here. Similar results repeated in the ZP elections of Khammam too. TDP with the support of communists bagged both the Chairman and Vice Chairman posts. This results will be a major encouragement for TDP which is fighting for its existence in Telangana State.
Traditionally TDP is strong in the district but the lack of coordination between Senior leaders Tummala Nageswara Rao and Nama Nageswara Rao costed the party dearly in recent elections. At the same time, Telangana Rashtra Samiti is dead weak in Khammam. In the recent Assembly elections, the party managed to open its account in Khammam by winning one MLA seat.
This is the first time after the formation of TRS party. Last month there is a strong buzz that Senior TDP leader, Tummala Nageswara Rao is joining TDP but that did not happen.
