Farmer Appikatla Muralikrishna is among the latest victim of farms being burnt due to the alleged opposition to the AP capital’s land pooling scheme. Some farmers who had noticed smoke coming had informed Muralikrishna, who then rushed to the farm, to find his harvest burning. Farmers had tried to control the flames in vain by pouring water, while two of the hay and rice stacks were reduced to ashes. Guntur range police have inspected the spot where they pressed a team into action. January is usually the harvesting season where farmers keep the harvested paddy in open sky before shifting them to the mills for producing rice. The farmers now feel that they have to sleep in the farmlands for protecting the harvest. And they have also demanded that the government should be taking stern action against the culprits for halting these incidents. It is not really sure from where this issue is happening but the farmers are facing a lot of trouble due to these crooked actions.
