Union parliamentary affairs minister M. Venkaiah Naidu has told that the sanctioning of exceptional Category Status for AP is yet very much on cards and that he had never told the proposal was suspended.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle here on Sunday, he told that he was misreported in a part of the media currently that he had announced the proposal had been suspended. He have never told the Centre had postponed the proposal or will not allow it in future. It was a confirmation given by the UPA Prime Minister on the floor of the Rajya Sabha at the period of passing the AP Bifurcation Act. They also backed it. There is no uncertainty on this, Mr Venkaiah said.

About the dead line for executing the proposal for granting Special Category Status to AP, the minister told, they require to satisfy all Chief Ministers regarding the need to call a meeting of the National Development Council to get it approved. It will require some time. That doesn’t mean they have suspended the proposal.

The Centre cannot allow Special Status only like that utilizing its executive powers. They require to convince other states too, Mr Venkaiah added.
