Iqbal Kaskar, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his two partners were detained in Mumbai on Tuesday on accusation of extortion and attack following a complaint by an estate agent

An FIR was filed previous night at Byculla police station after a complaint by Salim Shaikh, an estate agent that Kaskar and his associates had asked for Rs three lakh after thrashing him previous Friday, police told.The alleged event happened in a room at Damarwala building at Pakmodia Street in South Mumbai's Bhendi Bazar area, police added.

Kaskar and two others were registered under IPC sections 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention)," told Anil Madvi, senior inspector at J J Marg police station.

The 48-year-old victim, who is a inhabitant of Byculla, first reached the local police station where the FIR was filed and then the issue was shifted to J J Marg police. Kaskar had been deported to India from the United Arab Emirates in 2003. Dawood's fifth brother was needed in a murder case and his alleged role in the disputable Sara Sahara case where a building emerged illegally on government land but a court freed him in both the cases in 2007.
