One of the important arguments against the division of United Andhra Pradesh was the issue of Maoist menace and threats that due to division of efficient police personnel, both states may lag behind when it comes to anti Naxal operations. It was feared that this would take a toll on preparedness of police, especially in Telangana.

It is a known fact that Telangana’s district were a hub for Maoist activity which reached new peaks during late 80s, mid 90s and also during 2001-2004 when TDP regime was at logger heads with the red brigade. Crushing naxals by force was initiated full fledgly by Babu, which was later completed by YSR by 2006-07 that saw complete elimination of Maoist cadre here.

Maoists in the new state of Telangana

But the revival of Maoists in the new state of Telangana has been on the cards for quite some time now and sources say that posters surfacing at few places in Medak district allegedly authorised by Telangana zonal head, Jagan is causing jitters to the government and also the police forces.

It is not that easy to place posters in urban and rural secured area sand after a gap of one decade, these posters have surfaced in Medak warning government that it should give ex gratia to farmers who committed suicides, instructing TRS to fulfill farm loan waiver and halt the activities of real estate middle man in the region!
