The month long fast of Ramadan is here and we have managed to miss the first 10 days of it already. How you ask? Well, for starters, we haven’t compiled our list of must eat at places in Hyderabad this Ramzan. Of course, there is nothing better than breaking the fast at your home or even eating at your friend’s place, but if are the unfortunate ones, then we must head out. So here is a short note on Ramadan food in Hyderabad:


  1. Charminar Food Stalls

Well, this is where your trip should begin. You will find the mesmerising stalls for kababs, pather ka ghosht and yummy parathas. Do make sure you are in time, if not you may get lost in the crowd as this place is the biggest and oldest place where entire city catches up for samosas and other takeaway snacks.

For an Arabian Iftar, this is where you should be heading to. Ice and spice serves a wonderful shawarma platter with authentic sauces and dips that melt in your mouth. Do follow it with laham mandi for wholesome dinner. Biryani lovers head directly towards Mandar. This officially beats all the Hyderabadi Biryani you have been savouring on till now. 


3. Madina Building Shadaab Restaurant

Amidst all the stalls at Madina building, Shadaab restaurant takes first place when it comes to the Ramadan special delicacy Haleem. Agar yahaan nahi khaya to kahaan khaya!

Don’t mistake this cafe with the chain restaurants that are spread across the city. This place in Basheer Bagh is known to be consistent in it’s tastes when it comes to the Hyderabadi delicacy. Nothing can go wrong with its ghosht dishes, rotis and biryani ever. 


5. Toli Chowki Sehri Special

Shahghouse, which is the city’s favourite for Irani chai is a favoured location for haleem. Khichidi, keema, khatta are a special highlight provided for all the food lovers exclusively for the Sehri (pre-dawn meal) only. 


6. Pathergatti Sheran

One of the best place to relish on some finger licking parathas, kababs and chutney is at Sheran. Amongst the busy streets, foodies gather here for late late night meal. So if you have missed on a heavy dinner, finish your haleem, and rush to Sheran.

If you couldn’t make it to Shahghouse in the city for sehri, visit the old city’s Nayaab restaurant for Paya, Nahari, Kaleji, Ghurdey and Zabban which has a homely touch in the taste. Do not forget to compliment this meal with the Irani Chai. 

9. Mandi at Barkas

Way ahead of old city, lies authentic Saudi flavour, Mandi. It is the perfect dinner after all the kebabs, haleem and samosas. So if you have had an overdose of the regular Hyderabadi Biryani this Ramadan, then Barkas is where you will find a blissful taste.
