There seems to be some ray of hope finally for the state of Andhra Pradesh when it comes to the much hyped special status issue. Sources say that Modi has now passed this issue to one of the committees headed by Madhya Pradesh CM Chauhan.

Currently this committee is handling the overall issue of special status for all states in India. There was a talk recently that finally due to pressure from various states this Niti Aayog group may buckle under pressure to give its nod for continuation of special status to select states in the country.

big relief for AP CM Chandrababu Naidu

What would finally turn out is not clear but outright denial of special status didn't reportedly happen today which is being seen as a big relief for AP CM Chandrababu Naidu. This may be a useful leverage now to say that some activity is going on for the state regarding this key demand.

It may take some more months for clarity but in a way an emphatic no wasn't given by PM Modi which is a ray of hope. But from now how Naidu will handle this will become all the more interesting to watch in the weeks and months ahead.
