Metro Sridharan, he is one of the doyens in Modern India when it comes to executing railway projects and Konkan Railway, Delhi Metro are his brainchild. But he was kept away from Hyderabad Metro and was also threatened by then CM YSR of court action when he commented that Hyderabad Metro Rail project was causing suspicions. Even after ten years, the metro is yet to be operational.

 But thanks to CM Chandrababu

But thanks to CM Chandrababu, Andhra Pradesh is hiring his services. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will be reportedly executing the Visakhapatnam metro rail project at estimated costs of Rs 13,488 crore. It has been planned for completion within a period of four years.

The Centre's decision for entrusting the project to DMRC was announced recently by union minister for urban development, Mr M Venkaiah Naidu after the submission of a detailed project (DPR) to CM N Chandrababu Naidu. Babu has said that the DPR will be placed before the AP cabinet shortly for its approval. The DPR has reportedly proposed to fix fare of Rs 10 for a distance for below 5 km, Rs 20 from a range of 5-10 km and Rs 30 beyond the distance of 10 km.

The project which would be executed in four corridors would involve a total distance of 42.55 km. Venkaiah Naidu has revealed that private players are not interested to take up this project under build-operate-transfer (BOT) system due to low financial internal rate of returns and hence the government has approached the DMRC to take it up.
