How many of us knew about Siddhivinayak Temple ? It was a temple built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil. Those two contractors started the construction. However funding came from the richest person Deubai Patil.
She was an Agri woman. As she was childless, she built the temple with a hope that Lord will grant children to other barren women. This temple receives donation of $1.5 Million to $2.2 Million. This is the richest temple in whole of Mumbai.
The idol of Shree Siddhivinayak was carved out of a single black stone and is 2'6” (750mm) high and 2' (600mm) wide with the trunk on the right. The temple also has a rest house and living quarters. The care taker has a separate place for stay. It is a 2550 temple complex with two 3.6m Deepamalas.
It also has an adjoining lake 30 x 40 sq. m. in size on the eastern and southern side of the temple. This lake was dug out at the 19th century in order to counter the scarcity of water.
