Accordingly Good Friday is a Christian holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary. It is observed during Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday proceeding Easter Sunday, and may coincide with the Jewish observance of Passover. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, Black Friday, or Easter Friday.



Good Friday falls on March 30. It is one of the oldest Christian holidays, with some sources saying that it has been observed since 100 CE. It is an observance that involves people fasting and praying. Many church services are held in the afternoon, usually around noon or midday to 3 pm, to remember the hours when Jesus hung on the cross.

Lord Jesus was crucified on the cross on this particular day. This is a sad day for the Christians, but the day is termed as ‘Good Friday’ because they believe that Jesus gave up his life for the betterment of the people. And the word ‘Good’ in Good Friday means holy or pious.
