Hindu is not a religion because the word Hindu comes from the Himalaya and river Indus so the Hindu word is more geographical rather than religion. Meanwhile in ancient time there is no India those people who lives in the soil where is the Himalaya and Indus River are called Hindus and then many people started involving in religion like Jewish Christian, Islam and many more but those who remain pure Hindus without any religion they called themselves Hindu and then Hindu is also taken as religion.

So now come to your question, we Hindus don't eat beef by our choice firstly, and then we don't have the tendency to kill and eat those animals who we worship because cow gives us milk so we address her as a holy mother so we can't kill our mother simple. Furthermore at last in many religions too follow their holy books and avoid such things and meat which are prohibited in their religion to consume so we don't ask them why you don’t eat them because we Hindus respect all the religion and we believe in peace.

Moreover one more thing Indian desi cow’s produces A2 milk which is the Best and in other countries cows produces mostly a1 milk which is not as good as compares to a2 milk and hence  banning beef is necessary in India to prevent our cows from slaughtering who gives us quality milk.
