Reportedly former cricketer Dean Jones has suggested the international cricket Council to think about shifting the 2020 t20 world cup from australia to new zealand due to the lesser threat of coronavirus in the country.New Zealand hasn't recorded any new cases of Covid-19 for 11 days which why prime minister jacinda ardern is contemplating lifting all social distancing restrictions and return the country to normal life, by next week.Ardern will take a call on june 8 (Monday) whether new zealand is ready to shift to alert level 1, more than 2 months after she imposed a strict level 4 lockdown, shutting most businesses and forcing people to stay home, in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Looking at the current situation, Jones therefore, wondered whether the t20 world cup could be moved to New Zealand. india had hosted the last edition in 2016 which was won by the West Indies."Jacinda Ardern said NZ could move to alert level 1 next week, which means all social distancing measures and curbs on mass gatherings will be lifted, she said. Maybe play the t20 WC there? #justathought," Jones said.

Reportedly cricket australia boss Kevin Roberts said last week that the prospect of the Twenty20 world cup in October-November was under "very high risk" due to the coronavirus pandemic. Jones also backed Roberts's statement, saying that there is no chance for australia to host the tournament in 2020. "Firstly, cricket australia has retrenched a lot of people. So, when you have 16 teams here, and 30-40 people per team including staff, players and administrators, you won't be able to do it.  The ICC has the final say over whether the Oct. 18-Nov. 15 event will go ahead but cricket's world governing body has deferred decisions over the tournament until its next board meeting on june 10.
