Junior Pitch, an initiative of Sehwag Cricket Academy (An initiative by Virender Sehwag, Cricketer of World Fame), is a weekend cricket league for children below the age of 14 years. This league was conceptualised in 2013 to give an opportunity for the kids who are passionate about the sport but have not got a chance to showcase their talent or just want to come out and have some fun.
The league, now in its 4th year, provides an opportunity for children to play friendly matches and develop as team players. Cricket has its own character and it is for these young gentlemen to instill the same and play as little champions. The league does not envision a culminating point by awarding winners. Rather, it is dedicated towards encouraging the young talents who have chosen cricket as a part of their disciplined life.
This year, Junior Pitch started on 2nd April 2016 and ends by mid May 2016. The matches are played on each Saturday, Sunday and public holidays. The league’s title sponsor is Uflex and associate Sponsor is ONGC. The tournament is supported by Jaquar Group, Drink Pure Juices, Fever 104 and Khelfie. In total, there are thirty two teams in 5 groups and each team gets to play six matches making it more than 80 matches across 4 venues.
