The 16th match of the Vivo IPL 2018, between Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad, began with kings xi batting first. The Kings XI had a disastrous start to their innings, as they lost promising opener, KL Rahul, and Mayank Agarwal, early, but the other opener Chris Gayle had other ideas.
Gayle launched a massive onslaught of shots as he ripped apart Sunrisers bowlers at will, thrashing and smashing them brutally all over the park, as the Sunrisers failed to control Gayle storm. With Karun Nair chipping in with 31, Gayle's unbeaten blitzkrieg 104(63b, 1x4,11x6) propelled kings xi Punjab to 193/3.
Sunrisers Hyderabad began on a disastrous note, losing opener Saha and Dhawan who had to retire hurt. However, skipper Kane Williamson tried to resurrect the Innings scoring a rapid 54, with Manish Pandey for company, scoring 56 , and Shakib Al Hasan scoring 23 but Tye and Mohit Sharma's twin strikes meant that Sunrisers never got back post the blow, as they ended at 178/4 in 20 overs, as Kings XI Punjab won by 15 runs. Chris Gayle was adjudged man of the match for his thunderous 6th IPL ton.
