The 48th match of the Vivo IPL 2018, between Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kings XI Punjab, began with the latter batting first. Though the Kings XI began on a confident note with KL Rahul smashing a couple of sixes, both KL Rahul (21) and the explosive Gayle (18) departed in quick succession.
Other than Finch(26), none of the Punjab batsmen showed any signs of resistance, as the batting lineup fell like a pack of cards, with Umesh Yadav's 3/23, Yuzvendra Chahal, Siraj and Moeen Ali's tight bowling bundling out Kings XI Punjab for a meager 88 in just 15.1 overs.
The Royal Challengers batting began, with Skipper Virat Kohli promoting himself up the order, opening with Parthiv Patel, and the duo just started to blast, keeping in mind the Net run rate that might be helpful to improve their chances further. While Kohli smashed an unbeaten 48*(28b, 6x4,2x6), Parthiv Patel ended up scoring 40*(22b, 7x4), taking RCB to 92/0 in just 8.1 overs, as they won by 10 wickets.
