When whole nation was busy, some watching News, few glued to World Football Highlights, and others relishing their snore it was our Indian 18-year-old Hima Das who created history by winning 400 meters Gold Medal in 51.13 seconds creating a record at the World Athletic Championship (IAAF) at Tampere, Finland.


Hima Das won many hearts when tears trolled down on hearing Indian National Anthem was played after receiving the global honor.

Indias International Gold Medal in Athletics only saw Milkha Singh and PT Usha missing medal by a whisker, but finally, Hima Das achieved the feat and solved Indian Contingent wait for a medal.


Media is torn up in telecasting International Cricket and Football matches eyeing the lucrative sponsorships on Advertisement tags, while Sports Authority eying only events that have added revenue value.

Instead of applauding and honoring Hima Das's feat, Our Sports body hinted on her Weak English at the International Emporium, a shameful act by our Sports Administration, and biased and ignorant attitude of our Electronic Media who rely on revenue than the honor generated to the Nation.


Hima Das born in Nagaon in the Indian state of Assam to a poor family, she was the elder of four children. Hima Das fared well in playing football with boys in her school days, on the mud pits near her village school aiming for a career in football and was hoping to play for India.


Later, it was suggested to her that she should participate in athletics, after coach Nipon Das who after noticing her remarkable talent took responsibility in grooming her in Athletics and there was no looking back for Wonder Girl Hima Das who earned many laurels before creating a Record triumph in The World Athletic Championship-2018..
