The fourth day of the second test between India and Australia began with Aussies resuming on 132/4, and sooner, Paine departed, after scoring a belligerent 37(116). Aaron Finch, who had earlier retired hurt, returned and lost his wicket, as Mohammed Shami claimed him for 25(31).



Shami yet again struck to dismiss Usman Khawaja, the top scorer who ended with 72(213), and the tail was rattled by Bumrah, as Aussies ended second innings at 243, with Shami ending with an impressive 6/56. The Indian second innings, chasing 287, began on a disastrous note losing opener Rahul for a duck, and Pujara sooner for 4.



Skipper Kohli and Murali Vijay stood for a while before Kohli was dismissed scoring 17(40). Entered Ajinkya Rahane who steadied the innings for a while in the company of Vijay who was claimed by Lyon for 20(67). Hanuma Vihari joined forces with Rahane and as the duo set a partnership, Hazlewood dismissed the settled Rahane for 30(47).




With India struggling at 98/5, Rishab Pant came in, to join Vihari. The duo tried to evade some good deliveries and stood the test for a while, as Vihari was on 24(58)* and Pant on 9(19)*, as India ended day 4 on 112/5, with 175 runs needed and 5 wickets remaining.
