The final day of the second test between India and Australia began with India resuming on 112/5, needing 175 runs, and with just 7 runs added, Vihari was dismissed by Starc Scoring 28(75). Soon after, Rishab Pant too followed suit, as Lyon scalped him for 30(61).

Starc and Cummins made quick work of the tail, as they dismissed Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Bumrah in no time, rattling out India for 140, winning the second test by 146 runs. Lyon ended with 3/39, while Cummins had figures of 3/46.

With the series evenly poised at 1-1, India's loss in this match had been primarily attributed to skipper Virat Kohli opting out of spinners in a pitch that offered uneven bounce and even though Pacers like Shami, Ishant and Bumrah did a good job, India was missing a spinner like Ashwin and that dearly cost India the match, and Kohli has been under the radar for his poor decision in team selection.
