The second day of the final test of India's tour of Australia began with India resuming on 303/4, with Pujara and Vihari on the crease, and soon Vihari departed for 42(96). Rishabh Pant joined Pujara and the duo constantly kept Aussie bowlers at bay.

Pujara went on to score a massive knock before being dismissed by Lyon for 193(373), and Rishabh Pant, however, was in no mood to slow down as he played a quickfire knock in Jadeja's company as he raced to his second test century of 137 deliveries.

Pant scored a massive unbeaten 159(189)*, while Jadeja also contributed with a fine 81(114) as India declared after the latter's departure, at 622/7. Lyon, the best bowler for Aussies picked 4/178.  Khawaja 5(29)* and Harris 19(29)* opened for Australia, and on stumps, ended at 24/0, trailing by 598 runs.
