The final ODI of India's tour of Australia began with Aussies batting first. The Aussies had a disastrous start as Bhuvaneshwar Kumar removed openers Carey(5) and Finch(14) early. Usman Khawaja and Marsh stood for a while before Chahal struck twice to dismiss them both for 34(51) and 39(54) respectively. Handscomb yet again rescued Aussies with his 58(63), but Chahal again ended his knock.

While Maxwell 26(19) offered some resistance before being dismissed by Shami, the rest of the batsmen couldn't stand up to the Indian bowling,as they were all out for 230 in 48.4 overs, with Yuzvendra Chahal being the pick of Indian bowlers with 6/42. India began on a poor note losing Rohit Sharma for 9(17) and Stoinis removed the other opener Dhawan for 23(46).

Skipper Kohli, however, showed promise with his 46(62) but Richardson removed him. It was left to MS Dhoni to help India win the match, as he scored a patient and composed knock in the company of Kedar Jadhav, as the duo were cautious not to let out the advantage to Aussies, and despite several dropped catches, Dhoni went on to score an unbeaten 87(114)* and Jadhav remained unbeaten on 61(57) *, as India scored 234/3 and won the match by 7 wickets also winning the series 2-1.
