The final T20 between India and New Zealand began with India winning the toss and opting to bowl first. Kiwis began on a strong note with Seifert and Munro smashing indian bowlers all over the park, before Dhoni's stunning stumping removed Seifert 43(25), and Kuldeep Yadav removed Munro 72(40) soon after.

Skipper Kane Williamson and Grandhomme started hitting quickly to accumulate runs, before Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Williamson for 27(21), while Grandhomme was out scoring 30(16). With Mitchell (19)* and Taylor's (14)* kiwis reached 212/4 in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav claimed 2/26 and was the best bowler for India. Indian innings began on a pathetic note as opener Shikhar Dhawan was removed for  5(4) by Santner.

After a 50+ partnership with skipper Rohit Sharma, Vijay Shankar was dismissed by Santner for 43(28). After a blitzkrieg cameo Rishab pant departed for 28(12), and immediately skipper Rohit was removed scoring a patient 38(32). After promising, Hardik Pandya was dismissed for 21(11). Despite impressive cameos by Dinesh Karthik 33(16)* and Krunal Pandya 26(13)*, India ended at 208/6 as kiwis won by 4 runs and won the series 2-1. Dhoni who played a rash shot has been the main reason behind this loss.
