The second ODI between India and Australia began with India winning the toss and fielding first, and openers Finch 93(99) and Khawaja 104(113) provided a solid opening stand, and Maxwell scored 47(31) and Stoinis scored 32(26) to take Aussies to 313/5 in 50 overs.

India began badly losing openers Rohit Sharma (1) and Dhawan (14) early, but skipper Kohli stood firm and scored a massive 123(95) but got little support from the rest with Dhoni scoring 26(42). It's high time Dhoni retires so that Rishab Pant can replace him and get prepared for the World Cup.

Then Jadhav scored 26(39), Vijay Shankar scoring 32(30) and Jadeja scoring 24, all of them failing to capitalise on the starts, as India ultimately ended at 281 in 48.2 overs, losing the match by 32 runs. Richardson scalped 3/37 and Zampa had 3/70.
