Eating a plant-based diet cannot only help you lose weight but it will also help you avoid breast cancer. A report which is published by the National Research Council in 1982 called “Diet, Nutrition and Cancer” is a research about the breast cancer rate among Japanese women who are on a vegetarian diet. The researchers found out that breast cancer is rare in Japan because most Japanese eat a plant-based diet. A plant-based diet contributes weight loss benefits and according to Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D., from the Mayo Clinic, vegetarian people consume fewer calories which enhance weight loss. Although she adds that being a vegetarian cannot guarantee weight loss, you must plan your program diligently. For breakfast, eat steel-cut oatmeal and blueberries and for your morning snack, you can have an apple with natural peanut butter. Grab a spinach salad for lunch but be sure your salad dressing should have low sugar.  For afternoon snack one cup of mixed berries will do. A veggie burger on a multi grain bun for dinner is recommended. You can include a large salad with raw vegetables topped with sunflower seeds and use olive oil and vinegar for your dressing. To end your day, have a small piece of multi-grain toasted pita bread with just small amount of butter for your midnight snack.
