India is an emerging superpower and it is known for its vast presence in the army considered to have the highest personnel after China in the world. On the economic front, India is becoming the sought after destination for many world corporate and with the recent FDI opening the market has become even more inviting.  All this may be the credentials for our nation but there is one fundamental we are still missing out, when has India celebrated its independence without announcing red alert? Every year August 15th has a strong security blanket across all cities, public places etc and the ID parade happens through layers of heavy guarding. It only goes to show how vulnerable India is for terrorism.  There is an argument that it is part of government protocol to have the required security cover but what message is it conveying to the people? It does not mean that not one security guard stands but sounding red alert everytime we have an Independence Day is something of an irony which is challenging the secure feeling of a secular country. This could sound trivial but it does matter.
