Reportedly noted Industrialist and educationalist, BK Birla group of companies Chairman Basant Kumar Birla (98) passed away in mumbai on Wednesday. Accordingly BK Birla is youngest son of industrialist & philanthropist Ghanshyam Das Birla and grandfather of Kumar Mangalam Birla. Furthermore many industrialists and entrepreneurs have mourned the death of the visionary and recalled his incredible services to the industry. Meanwhile Birla was blessed with two daughters and a son but his son Aditya vikram Birla died in 1995.

He was born on 12 January 1921, Birla has established one of highly renowned educational institution, BK Birla Institute of Engineering and technology in Pilani. Apparently he's played an instrumental role in growth of many group companies like Kesoram Industries, Century Textiles and Industries, Century Enka, Mangalam Cement and ECE Industries. Birla was the first Indian to float Indo-Ethiopian Textile Share Company and Birla acted as the chairman of the 'Krishnarpan Charity Trust', and several leading educational institutions.



Moreover he also was the chairman of Swargashram Trust, which administers a Sanskrit school in rishikesh and also established Birla Public School in qatar and BK Birla College of Arts, Science and Commerce in kalyan in mumbai.
