Xi Jinping opted for travelling by road shunned Helicopter

PM modi landed in Chennai and took chopper to Mammallapuram, while Jinping opted to travel by road to the destination of the meeting.

Chinese premier Xi Jinping opted to travel 57-kilometres distance from Chennai to Mammallapuram via road, the decision of shunning the chopper is a matter of policy to which Xi have to follow. The car used for the premier was flown from china, and it is called “Hongqi" Limousine. These limos are made to ferry the premiers of china, the meaning  of Hongqi in english is  red flag.

After reaching Mammallapuram, the premier met modi for informal summit, later he left for Chennai after sightseeing, a part of his entourage. He is scheduled to visit Mammallapuram again on Saturday for another round of talks, later Jinping will fly to nepal along with the Chinese delegation.

The Beijing clarification that in most foreign ministerial trips, the premier don’t use a chopper, almost as a rule of protocol. Even during G20 summit, Jinping didn’t used Helicopters and travelled mostly by road. However, the Chinese premier using cars wasn’t a matter of security during his visit to India. American delegation always use their cars for security reasons whenever they travel to foreign countries with the President.
